Andratx – Banyalbufar – Palma Tour.

Mallorca is an island known worldwide for its beautiful beaches and coasts and for its capital, Palma, the historic center of numerous cultures that have passed throughout its history. However, it also enjoys beautiful mountainous landscapes little known among tourists, located to the west side of the island, which will be able to captivate anyone, either thanks to its incredible panoramic views, its most authentic villages, its spectacular gastronomy… and for of course, its wonderful motorbike routes (as you can see in our post about the best motorbike routes in Mallorca). The best example is the motorbike route through the Tramuntana mountains, our favorite route on the island.

It is here, on these scenic routes, where you can enjoy in the purest way the feeling of freedom that riding a motorbike or scooter gives you. To do this, you can consult our motorbike rental and scooter rental services in Mallorca.

1. Palma – Andratx

Our route begins in Palma, leaving from one of the two Vintage Motors branches in Palma, where you can rent the motorbike or scooter that best suits your driving taste, and our first destination will be Puerto de Andratx. It is a town located on the westernmost side of the island and is one of the most impressive natural harbors on the islands. This first section will not take us more than thirty minutes to cover it by motorbike or scooter.

This port, which was once home to fishermen, is now a cosmopolitan place with a wide variety of options in terms of leisure, thus finding everything from shops with different themes, to a large number of restaurants offering typical island cuisine, and of course some beautiful coves, as in the case of Cala Llamp or Cala d’Egos, these being quite accessible either by motorbike or scooter and being able to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in Mallorca.

Then, having enjoyed this wonderful stop, we will head towards the municipality of Andratx where we will start the most scenic and enjoyable route to travel by motorbike or scooter; the entrance to the Sierra de la Tramuntana.

2. Sierra de la Tramuntana and Estellencs

The Tramuntana crosses the entire north of the island from west to east, was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, and houses that part of the island that we cannot find in cosmopolitan Palma or anywhere else in Mallorca. With typical mountain pass roads and impressive views, while being continuously surrounded by nature, this route is essential for anyone who is a fan of the world of motorbikes.

Thus, our journey continues towards Estellencs, a town declared an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1972 thanks to its geographical nature, finding spectacular views of the sea, surprising coves with crystalline waters and historic buildings of a medieval nature. It is thus a small town of no more than 600 inhabitants, characterized by being located on a steep orography, with narrow and cobbled streets that transport you to another era.

3. Banyalbufar

Immediately afterwards we will head towards Banyalbufar. This route is one of the most beautiful in all of Mallorca. It is a journey with many curves and good asphalt, making it tremendously fun on a motorbike or scooter. On this route we will continually find spectacular views of the sea, as well as monuments of great historical interest such as the Torre de Es Verger.

Once we reach our destination, we will find a picture that defines Banyalbufar, the famous terraces of Arab origin that allow the creation of cultivation and construction areas in a rugged terrain similar to that of Estellencs.

This town has been declared one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, and it is easily understandable once you take a walk through its small and steep streets. In the same way as in Estellencs, in this town you can breathe a tranquility and an atmosphere of indescribable calm, even so, it is a town in which the number of restaurants and entertainment venues is greater than that of Estellencs. Finally, and to finish understanding and confirming the beauty of this town, it is in this place where we will find one of the most magical sunsets on the entire island, creating a picturesque image full of colors over a beautiful blue sea.

4. Esporles

Once we leave this wonderful town, we head to our next destination before arriving back in Palma: Esporles.

The road that will take us to our next destination, starting from Banyalbufar, is very fun and winding as in the previous cases, thus finding a section that will delight any motorbike driver.

Regarding Esporles, it is a small town located at the foot of the Tramuntana, surrounded by nature, but more cosmopolitan in nature than previous towns. We can find in it an infinite number of restaurants and bars that offer a varied gastronomy, as well as typical products of the island. In addition, among its most visited sites, we find “Sa Granja”; It is a mansion/museum located on a 100,000 m2 estate where we can find beautiful gardens with natural waterfalls decorating the exterior of the museum. Furthermore, once inside the mansion, we will find more than 60 rooms decorated with an infinite number of traditional Mallorcan furniture, offering us a trip to the past of the island. On the other hand, we will be able to enjoy a tasting of typical Mallorcan homemade products such as sobrasada, various sausages, wine…

5. Return to Palma

Finally, to finish the route, we return to the capital of Mallorca, Palma, where we will take the opportunity to visit its beautiful old town. We begin thus by visiting the imposing cathedral located near the port of Palma, and of course, taking a walk through the beautiful Parc de la Mar, a beautiful park located at the foot of it, where we can enjoy beautiful views of the cathedral as well as of the water channel that surrounds it.

We finally finish our journey by walking through an area of the old town known as La Lonja (Sa Llotja), where we can enjoy fresh fish and seafood. Both our rental locations in Es Baluard and the one on the Paseo Marítimo are just a few minutes’ walk away.
